Review Of Dance in the Dark by Megan Derr

Dance in the Dark (Dance with the Devil #2)by Megan Derr 4*
BLURB: At the age of nine, Johnnie lost everything. A quiet, normal child, his life forever changed when his family was attacked by a blood-crazed vampire, leaving his parents dead and Johnnie an orphan.
Now grown, he is the cold, proud, beautiful—but very human—son of the Dracula Desrosiers, who took him in after the tragedy that befell Johnnie's parents. Constantly kept apart for being human, Johnnie chooses to bury himself in the two things he most loves—books and mysteries.
Then he is summoned by a friend to solve a simple mystery involving a pair of Cinderella slippers, and in putting one mystery to rest Johnnie only succeeds in waking several more.

My Review: The main character of this book is mentioned in passing in Dance With The Devil and even that little mention made me interested in knowing more about him. This book told me lots and he was a most interesting person to read about. One of my favourite things about him is his tendency to use quotes from poems, fairy tales and the like. Like Dance With the Devil the book was split into 'Cases' but at least these were in chronological order and were really just a way of splitting the story about Johnnie and his hunt for the truth. I really would advise reading Dance With the Devil first, as it makes more sense of some of the secondary characters in this book, but it can be read as a stand alone if so desired.

Reviewing Releasing The Wolf by Dianna Hardy

Releasing The Wolf (Eye Of The Storm #1)by Dianna Hardy 4*
BLURB: Lydia Martin has always had dreams, the weirdest and hottest of them all involving a faceless, muscle-bound man that speaks like sin and smells like sex. Like any sane person, she always put the dreams down to an overactive imagination, coupled with a higher than average libido.
One night, however, instead of their usual, erotic encounters, she finds him in her dream, chained to a wall and screaming in pain. Not only that, but she thinks she recognises the building he's being held captive in as one that's just a few streets away.
Awaking with an irrepressible need to save her fantasy lover, Lydia decides to humour her dream self and head on over to where she thinks he's imprisoned.
What unfolds is beyond even her wildest imaginings, as she's sucked into a dangerous and deadly world she never knew existed ... and it turns out that the man who inhabits her darkest fantasies, isn't the only one that needs releasing.

My Release: The first thing that struck me was the unusual fact of werewolves in Britain! The second was the the fact that it was a VERY hot read. The storyline was complex and had an interesting concept for the werewolves. I was even OK with the fact hat she hnds up with three guys. What I could not accept readily was wolves in Britain!

The Glass Coffin by Megan Derr

The Glass Coffin (Kiss Me at Midnight)by Megan Derr 4*
BLURB: On the eve of the new year, Rostislav is summoned to a museum to examine a legendary artifact: the glass coffin from a notorious legend about a vampire who fell in love with a human—a legend as false as Rostislav knows the coffin to be, because everyone knows that vampires don't fall in love with their prey.
My Review: The Characters in this short story had a brief appearance in some of the shorts in the last book I read by Megan Derr. I enjoyed reading more about them and the world she has created. I especially liked how she made fairy tales see more like history for the abnormals in her stories. My only complaint is I am still not sure why Vampires don't fall in love with Humans. Hopefully this will be explained in a later book.

Reviewing Dance With the Devil by Megan Derr

I am experimenting with adding the book covers to my reviews. Please let me know if this is what you like to see or if I am wasting my time.

Dance with the Devil (Dance with the Devil #1)by Megan Derr 4*
BLURB:In a world of demons, goblins, witches, sirens, werewolves, vampires, and so much more, it can be difficult to determine who is guilty of what and why. Chris White is a detective who fearlessly investigates this supernatural world, himself a unique product of it. He will take any case brought to him, but has a particular affinity for helping those who inhabit the poor districts of his city. From strange rituals and runaway vampires, to fighting sorcerers and confronting a demon lord, this paranormal detective will face any challenge—even a dance with the devil.
My Review: I liked this as it was a lot of short stories about the paranormal detective and his cases. What I wasn't so keen on was the way it was all jumbled up as far as timeline is concerned, with only the case number to tell you in advance where you were in the characters timeline. I must admit that each case had me both intrigued and fascinated, as the author has a wonderful way of making each case seem fresh and interesting, even though most of them are just normal detection stuff with the added element of paranormal creatures committing crimes or needing help. If you like m/m, paranormal, detectives and short easy to read stories teh this is one for you.

Review Of The Godborn by Paul S Kemp

The Godborn (The Sundering #2)by Paul S. Kemp 1*
BLURB: In the 2nd book of the multi-author Sundering series launched by New York Times best-selling author R.A. Salvatore, the shadow legacy of Erevis Cale lives on even as his old foe Mephistopheles seeks to stamp it out at any cost. Cale’s son Vasen—unmoored in time by the god Mask—has thus far been shielded from the archdevil’s dark schemes, alone among the servants of the Lord of Light who have raised him since birth.
Living in a remote abbey nestled among the Thunder Peaks of Sembia, Vasen is haunted by dreams of his father, trapped in the frozen hell of Cania. He knows the day will come when he must assume his role in the divine drama unfolding across Faerûn. But Vasen knows not what that role should be . . . or whether he is ready to take it on. He only knows what his father tells him in dreams—that he must not fail.
Enter Drasek Riven, a former compatriot of Erevis Cale, now near divine and haunted by dreams of his own—he too knows the time to act is near. Shar, the great goddess of darkness, looks to cast her shadow on the world forever. Riven has glimpsed the cycle of night she hopes to complete, and he knows she must be stopped.
At the crossroads of divine intrigue and mortal destiny, unlikely heroes unite to thwart the powers of shadow and hell, and the sundering of worlds is set on its course.

My Review:Complimentary Review Copy Provided by Publisher Through NetGalley . When I got the first two books of The Sundering from Netgalley, I assumed they were closely linked but found out I was mistaken. Apart from both being set in the same world they had nothing in common at all. This one was so different that I just couldn't get into it in the same way and in fact had to work hard at finishing it at all. I was constantly trying to figure things out and getting very lost. this might interest someone who knows more about the world in which it is set (The Forgotten Realms from Wizards Of The Coast for those who want to know) or who like stuff written by Paul S Kemp but it wasn't for me.

Review Of Handle With Care by Josephine Myles

Handle with Care by Josephine Myles 4*
BLURB: The best things in life aren’t free…they’re freely given.
Ben Lethbridge doesn’t have many vices left. After raising his little sister to adulthood, he wasted no time making up for the youth he lost to responsible parenting. Two years of partying it up—and ignoring his diabetes—has left him tethered to a home dialysis regimen.
He can do his job from his flat, fortunately, but most of his favourite things are forbidden. Except for DVD porn…and fantasizing over Ollie, the gorgeous, purple-haired skateboarder who delivers it.
Their banter is the highlight of Ben’s lonely day, but his illness-ravaged body is the cruel reality that prevents him from believing they’ll do anything more than flirt. Not to mention the age gap. Still, Ben figures there’s no harm in sprucing himself up a bit.
Then one day, a package accidentally splits open, revealing Ben’s dirty little secret…and an unexpected connection that leaves him wondering if he’s been reading Ollie wrong all this time. There’s only one way to find out: risk showing Ollie every last scar. And hope “far from perfect” is good enough for a chance at love.

My Review: I was drawn to this because my husband has diabetes and incipient Kidney failure, so I was interested in how the author portrayed the problems these conditions can bring. I have to say she did a bang up job of being totally honest and above board about them and still give the reader a wonderfully romantic story. I loved Ollie and, after reading about his past, I so wanted to give him a big cuddle or something. As for Ben I loved how he was so tender and caring and could also be so dimwitted at times, it made him so easy to love. If you like gritty realistic romance with lots of sappiness and a great growth of relationship story then you need to read this one.

First Impressions Trilogy by Josephine Myles

First Impressions by Josephine Myers 4*
BLURB When ugly socks attract.
Surly artist Jez just can't help staring at the brightly colored socks of the businessman who sits opposite him on the train every day. He weaves a whole history for the mysterious stranger in a vain attempt to stave off his attraction, but it only ends up feeding his bizarre obsession. Then one hot morning, Jez finally snaps and starts sketching...

My Review: Sweet short story that had a lot going for it. I loved the characters and the way the got together. The artistic view of the world a seen by Jez helped make this a great story.

Fuzzy by Josephine Myers 4*
BLURB When sofas attack!
When Jez gets home early and discovers his incapacitated lover hiding something under the sofa cushions, he expects it to be porn, but what Steve's really hiding is something both embarrassing and strangely sensuous!

My Review: This had a lovely humorous turn to it that left me with a smile on my face.

Last Chance by Josephine Myers 4*
BLURB: Finding the strength to face up to your past is much easier with the love of a good man.
Surly artist Jez can hardly believe his good fortune in ending up in domestic bliss with a warmhearted man like Steve, but one morning a letter arrives, stirring up old hurts. Jez finds it hard to believe Steve will still want him when he reveals his sorry history. Steve, however, is determined to prove that he loves Jez just the way he is — and he’ll even do it before he finishes knitting his first pair of socks…

My Review: This one had a much darker feel to it but I was delighted with the way the author faced the death of a family member and still managed to produce a really romantic story.

Reviewing Agamemnon Frost Book Two

Agamemnon Frost and the Hollow Ships (Agamemnon Frost #2)by Kim Knox 4*
BLURB: Edgar Mason is ready to embark upon his new life at Agamemnon Frost’s side. But all is not perfect. Through torture, Pandarus, his Martian overlord, has implanted a dark voice in his mind, a voice that urges betrayal. And though he can keep close to Frost, there’s little room for romance under the watchful gaze of the engineers from Station X.
That changes when Mason and Frost reopen their investigation into their old enemy’s whereabouts. Posing as double agents and investigating cryptic rumors of “hollow ships,” they find him impersonating a London banker and worm their way into his confidence.
But their success brings them trouble in spades. Pandarus takes them into the belly of his ships, where he plans to transfigure them into mindless automata. And with Earth on the brink of invasion, Frost’s old flame Theodora reappearing, and Pandarus’s brainwashing growing more effective, Mason and Frost will find their bond tested as never before.

My Review:Complimentary Review Copy Provided by Author. Another installment in this wonderful new series by Kim Knox. She has given the reader an amazing journey into action adventure with a sexy twist. Mason has to fight with his internal demons and hope that he won't put Frost into the enemies hands. Frost in the meantime uses Mason's lusts to keep him in check. I loved it. I just hope that Kim has many more Agamemnon stories to tell us.

Reviewing Blurred Nights by Kallysten

Blurred Nights (The Demons Age #5)by Kallysten 4*
BLURB: In a future world shattered by the invasion of beast-like demons, humans are fighting back as well as they can, using ancient weapons along with magic to defend their cities. Next to them, vampires are fighting too – some for the thrill of it, others to hold on to age-old Pacts, which demand that they protect humans.
When Kate’s squad of fighters meets vampires Marc and Blake, she is torn. Her squad could use their help, but the two men are distracting her from her duty. Night after night, they search together for the breach between realities that allows the demons’ invasion. They search, also, for the equilibrium that will allow Blake to forgive his Sire, Marc to accept Blake as he is – and Kate to admit she is attracted to both of them.
Can they find that delicate balance before the demons destroy the squad?

My Review:Complimentary Review Copy Provided by Author. Demons, Vampires and Humans at war, Check. Vampires on the side of humans, Check. Plenty of action, Check. Romance between vampire and human, Check. Hot sexy scenes, Check. Tension between Sire and Childe, Check. All the boxes keep getting checked but, seriously, this is one great story that keeps the reader on the edge with action and sexual tension from page one until the end and leaves me, for one, eager to read books two and three in this Blurred trilogy from within the Demon Age series.

Review of Rush by Joan Swan

Rush: Phoenix Rising Series, Book 3 by Joan Swan 5*
BLURB: Jessica Fury, Washington lobbyist, has money, connections, and her own firm. But five years ago she had something better: happiness. Her firefighter husband, Quaid, was handsome, courageous, and crazy about her. Then one day he walked into a chemical inferno—and never walked out. Jessica has been through hell to get back on her feet. And then a rumor surfaces that could bring a miracle or shatter her world – again.
Q has been a prisoner forever. He’s honed his mind and body into weapons. He’s developed abilities no one else understands. But he’s still at the mercy of a cabal of ruthless men, who blank his memory, test him like a lab rat, and tell him lies. Although his past has been erased and his future looks grim, instinct tells him he has a woman to live for. What his mind can’t remember, his body can’t forget…

My Review:Complimentary Review Copy Provided by Publisher Through NetGalley I had no idea when I received this book that it was number three in the series. Not that it made much difference as I was soon so deep into the story I just didn't want to stop reading. The action is fast paced and intense. The intrigue, dirty dealings and black ops secrets are believable and downright scary. The interaction between all the Characters is well written and made me want to be a part of the Phoenix Team. This had me on a roller coaster of emotions between scared rigid and moved to tears and deserves more than the five stars I've given it. I am now off to see if I can afford books one and two so that I can read more about everyone.

Review Of In His Command by Rie Warren

In His Command (Don't Tell #1) by Rie Warren 5*
BLURB: In the dystopian future, two men discover attraction isn't just dangerous, it's deadly.
It is the year 2070. Generations ago, the world was annihilated by catastrophic environmental events. The survivors were driven to live in big city centers ruled by the Company. To rebuild the world’s population, the oppressive Company had one rule: all homosexuals must be exterminated.
Commander Caspar Cannon has a stellar military reputation—and a life-threatening secret. When a revolution rips through the territories, Cannon is ordered to escort Company executive Nathaniel Rice to a secure location. For months, the commander has harbored illicit desire for Rice, knowing he cannot act on his attraction. Privileged, polished, and groomed to one day take over the Company, Rice is drawn to the rugged, military man. Yet Rice has his own mysterious agenda, and he knows their love can be as dangerous as the wasteland they must traverse.
Now leaving the besieged city behind, the two men embark on a journey that becomes a minefield of sabotage, betrayal—and forbidden passion. But when danger catches up to them, can Cannon trust the secretive man who holds his heart—and his fate?

My Review:Complimentary Review Copy Provided by Publisher Through NetGalley . I loved this dark and dangerous story of Cannon and his rather tumultuous journey to his happy ending. Not that I didn't think at times that neither he, nor his partner in those travels, would ever survive, let alone get that happy ending. The world building in this book was outstanding and the logic of the way this dystopian world comes about is impeccable and (unfortunately) only too believable. I was on a rollercoaster of emotion from page one and it didn't let up with so many secondary characters that were equally as well written as Cannon and Rice. Book two has one of these as the heroine, and I can't wait to read all about her and her trials in this revolution fraught world that is on the cusp of changing, hopefully for the better.

Review of Magic of Thieves (Legends of Dimmingwood #1) by C. Greenwood

Magic of Thieves (Legends of Dimmingwood #1)by C. Greenwood 3*
BLURB: In a province where magic is forbidden and its possessors are murdered by the cruel Praetor, young Ilan, born with the powerful gift of her ancestors, has only one hope for survival. Concealment. In the shadow of Dimmingwood, she finds temporary protection with a band of forest brigands led by the infamous outlaw Rideon the Red Hand.
But as Ilan matures, learns the skills of survival, and struggles to master the inherent magic of her dying race, danger is always close behind. When old enemies reappear and new friendships lead to betrayal, will her discovery of an enchanted bow prove to be Ilan’s final salvation or her ultimate downfall?

My Review: To quote the blurb "she struggles to master the inherent magic of her dying race" and "will her discovery of an enchanted bow prove to be Ilan’s final salvation or her ultimate downfall?" So you would expect to read a lot about managing magic and an enchanted bow. Don't! There is very little mention of magic in this and the enchanted bow only turns up near the end of the story! This rather spoiled what was otherwise a pleasant fantasy story for me.

Review Of Heightened Reality by Lexie Donovan

Heightened Reality by Lexie Donovan 4*
BLURB: A Virtual Environment Machine can create anything your mind can conceive but Kala never expected the Captain to trap her inside a hot and steamy jungle simulation for her indiscretions. If Roark wanted to use the program to seduce her, she was going to enjoy every moment of making him work for that pleasure.
My Review: Complimentary Review Copy Provided by Author (Because she's my daughter and knows I'll be ruthlessly honest). This was a short but interesting story that somehow managed to get in a lot of background information on the Heroine who was feisty and yet also very vulnerable. Unfortunately I found that, apart from the Hero's manly attributes and the fact that he was a good captain, I didn't really get to know him as well as I did the Heroine, this is the reason for not giving it a 5* review. Apart from that small niggle I thoroughly enjoyed this story and think it's well worth a read if you have a half hour or so you want to fill in with something a little bit meaty.

Review Of Dead Sexy Dragon

Dead Sexy Dragon (Dragon Heat #1) by Lolita Lopez 4*
BLURB: The last thing dragon shifter Stig Wyvern needs is his dead friend’s kid sister showing up on his doorstep. He’s just minutes away from entering a mating phase. Sharing his isolated house with the young woman he’s desperately lusted after for quite some time is a recipe for disaster.
But Cora Cardenas has nowhere else to go. She’s in deep trouble with some really nasty people and Stig is the only one who can protect her. That he’s deliciously sexy and makes her tingle with the simplest of smiles is just a bonus.
Cora quickly realizes Stig is hiding something from her. To make matters worse, she’s plagued with breathtakingly naughty dreams starring a shadowed lover who bears a startling resemblance to her host. And just what the hell is going on down in the basement at night?
Stig needs to get Cora out of his house but his inner beast has other ideas. He’s found his mate and she’s not going anywhere...

My Review: Complimentary Review Copy Provided by Publisher Through NetGalley . As a first book in a new series this is very good at setting the scene for the Dragons and their enemies. It also has a very pleasant romance with a few rather nice sex scenes. I could have done with a little more action but that is a personal choice and doesn't reflect anything against the book. One thing I really did enjoy was that Cora had a much more realistic reaction to Stig's revelations about himself than is usual in a romance.

Wolf's Justice by Doranna Durgin

Review Of Wolf's Justice (King's Wolf Saga, Book 2) by Doranna Durgin 5*
BLURB: When Reandn's Remote Wolf Patrol is slaughtered under someone else's command, his explosive reaction earns him a discharge from the elite service that has shaped his entire life. He is left adrift in a society still reeling under the changes wrought by the return of magic. But King's Keep offers him a chance to regain his rank, if he can see that the Highborn woman Kalena -- whose very presence is a focus for the turmoil building around magic's return -- is safe on the journey from the Resioran border to King's Keep. Soon enough Reandn finds himself embroiled in treachery and under attack by Resioran zealots -- and in order to make it out alive, he'll have to face his own worst enemy.
My Review: Complimentary Review Copy Provided by Author. This is the second book featuring Reandn of the Remote Wolf Patrol. I read book one last October and was gifted the second one to give an honest review. Well in my honest opinion this is even better than book one (if that's at all possible)and was so good I rarely put it down. The characters were wonderful and even the new ones sparkled off the pages. The magic was clever and Reandn's reactions to it very intense and intriguing. The political intrigue and the action was cleverly wrought as was the subtle undertones of mystery, suspense and romance. I really hope Ms Durgin will write a book three to the King's Wolf Saga following some of the other characters such as Teya or Rethia.

Reviewing A Kiss OF Blood by Kallysten

A Kiss Of Blood by Kallysten 4*
BLURB: All Deidra wanted was a family.
Instead of a husband and children however, fate gives her a Sire, a clan, and a village she is sworn to protect from beastly demons. It also gives her Tristen, who teaches her what it means to be a vampire—and what it means to love.
When her duties to her village conflict with her Sire’s orders, she has to choose which part of her family is the most important. And Tristen, confronted with her disappearance, also needs to decide where his loyalties lie.

My Review:Complimentary Review Copy Provided by Author Unlike Kallysten's more erotic stories this one is much more genteel. This does not however mean it isn't a good story because it really is. Tristan and Deidre make a lovely couple and the story is short but sweet with just enough conflict to make it interesting. Deirdre also comes across as a really strong person that I would love to read more about, especially her interaction with the humans she protects. I hope Kallysten means to write more in this vein as even without hot sex scenes it was a story worth reading.

NetGalley Reviews

Review Of Super Hot(Superlovin' #3) by Vivi Andrews 4*
BLURB: Superhero research scientist Dr. Eric Eisenmann always secretly wanted to be super himself, until he was abducted, experimented on, and woke up pyrokinetic—the least stable of all the super abilities. Suddenly he’s lighting everything around him on fire whenever his emotions get the better of him and desperate to turn his super powers off. Unfortunately, Eisenmann’s only hope for a cure lies with a woman who wants nothing to do with him—and fires up the very emotions he needs to keep in check.
As the only non-super daughter in a superhero dynasty, Tandy Nightwing has been poked and prodded for years in an attempt to find the cause behind her defect. Now that she’s finally found a way to be happy with her normalcy, the last thing she wants is to subject herself to another super scientist’s tests—but she can no more resist Eisenmann’s plea for help than she can resist the good doctor himself.
Deep in his underground lab, Eisenmann tries to maintain rigid control of his feelings, but Tandy is his personal kryptonite, constantly testing his restraint. Powerless or not, she just might be the one woman brave enough to stand close to his fire—provided they both survive when their experiments unleash a passion that burns hotter than sin

My Review:Complimentary Review Copy Provided by Publisher Through NetGalley I haven't read the previous two books but that didn't spoil my enjoyment of this one. I loved Superhero comic books as a child and now Vivi has given me an adult Superhero book to read. It comes complete with all the action and intrigue I loved in the comics but with the addition of a really super hot romance Hero and his equally intriguing Heroine.

Review Of Jaran (Jaran #1) by Kate Elliott 4*
BLURB: The first book in Kate Elliott's acclaimed Jaran series-the groundbreaking story of a young woman coming of age on an alien planet...and her effect on the human race's survival.
My Review:Complimentary Review Copy Provided by Publisher Through NetGalley I was expecting a good book and that's what I got. An intriguing, engaging and believable science fiction story that was also a romance and a commentary on people, politics and social behaviour. I kept thinking 'I know what's going to happen now' only to be completely surprised at the turns the story took. It was engrossing and I really liked it.

His heart isn’t supposed to be part of the deal, but Pilar has all the beauty and joy his life lacks. But Pilar is not so easily cast aside, and negotiations turn into a gamble with the future of the sector in the balance. Hakan is about to learn about the high stakes his bride will hazard, as he now has far more to lose—and win—than he ever believed possible: a future brighter than gold.

In the shards of civilization ruined by a global war, Lake has gotten the life she never dared dreamed of—a safe haven, and the love of a good man, her husband, Hudson Black Creek. But Lake’s hard-won happiness doesn’t last long when powerful Elders lay siege on Black Creek Manor in retaliation for a past defiance. As evil and fear spread across a war-torn land, Lake and Hudson are tested like never before, and both will have to forgive betrayals and risk greater heartbreak if they want a chance at saving their lives… and their love.
PRINCE OF PASSION by Jessa Slade
When mercenary raiders targeted the empathic crystals that imbue the legendary l’auraly lovers with extraordinary sensual prowess, Icere, the last male l’auralyo, helped destroy the crystals. Rather than let the source of uninhibited pleasure be corrupted into a mind-controlling drug, he allowed his passionate destiny to remain forever unfulfilled. Now, Icere channels his fury into revenge. Tracking the raiders through the interstellar sheerways to a watery world infamous for its aphrodisiac liqueur, he finds a queen—as adrift and alone as he—forced for years into a fate she never desired.

My Review: I loved book 1 and couldn't wait to read book 2 and the continuation of the stories. I wasn't disappointed at all. The Characters were just as fresh and exciting and the action was all out with some really lovely sexy romance scenes to liven it up even more. I am definitely going to be keeping my eyes open for more from these wonderful authors.

Review Of Same Page by Lily Velden

Same Page (How the Light Gets In #1)by Lily Velden 5*
BLURB: Book One: How the Light Gets In
He was like the only splash of color in a black-and-white photograph.
The man was beautiful.
At an exhibition opening in Sydney, jaded Hollywood heartthrob Jaxon Moncrieff lays eyes on publicity-shy artist Liam Lassiter for the first time and is immediately captivated. But he doesn’t get far into their first conversation before he realizes what he’s feeling is attraction, which brings him up short. Jaxon has always been a womanizer.
Despite his reservations, Jaxon makes a play for Liam, but Liam has his own issues. Unlucky in love and orphaned at sixteen, he is reluctant to open his heart to anyone, and dismisses Jaxon out of hand.
Driven by a need he doesn’t understand, Jaxon organizes a return to Sydney to film his next project. If he can’t be with Liam, maybe they can be friends. Of course, that creates a whole new problem. Now Jaxon is falling in love for the first time. How can he move their relationship from friends to lovers without destroying the trust he’s worked so hard for?

My Review: This had all the ingredients of a first class romance AND it made me cry - there was no way I could give it less than a 5* after that! The main Characters were full of real depth and I felt totally immersed in their romance from page one. The misunderstandings between the two are wonderfully portrayed and the 'research' done by Jaxon had me giggling as did his habit of naming body parts :D This is such a good book I am definitely going to bust my book fund trying to get book two (The Race Is On) as soon as possible.

Connection: Angel's Pet by Nana G. 4*
BLURB: Gay BDSM Erotic Fantasy. Adam is a submissive masochist living on a planet which systematically persecutes sadomasochists. Like other exposed sadomasochists, he has been forced into a street life. Nevertheless, he is determined to find his sir. Adam believes he is searching for a man, but his search leads him to a black winged angel. The story contains explicit material and is intended for adults only.
My Review: Complimentary Review Copy Provided by Author If you like the SM part of BDSM then you will like this story. It deals very explicitly with the relationship found between a Masochist and his dominating Sadistic partner. That's not to say it is just sex for sex sake as it isn't. It is a well thought out story that has hints of backstory about the society in which Adam and his Master find themselves. It also has a lot of interesting incidents of the power that the alien Master wields. Overall I enjoyed this short story and found it to be well worth a read.

Reviewing Agamemnon Frost and the House of Death (Agamemnon Frost #1) by Kim Knox

Agamemnon Frost and the House of Death (Agamemnon Frost #1)by Kim Knox
4*
BLURB: Book one of Agamemnon Frost
Liverpool, 1891
Decorated artilleryman Edgar Mason was forced to find new work when the British Empire replaced its foot soldiers with monstrous machines. Now he waits on the Liverpool elite as a personal servant. He has just one rule: he won’t work for fashion-addled dandies.
Agamemnon Frost, however, is far from the foppish man-about-town he appears to be. He’s working to protect the Earth from an alien invasion being planned by a face-changing creature known as Pandarus. And on the night he plans to confront the aliens, he enlists Mason to assist him.
For a man to love a man is a serious crime in Victorian England. But when Mason meets Frost, his heart thunders and his blood catches fire. And when Pandarus drags the two men into the torture cellars beneath his house of death to brainwash them, Mason’s new passion may be all that stands between him and insanity.
The trilogy continues with Agamemnon Frost and the Hollow Ships.

My Review: Complimentary Review Copy Provided by Author The author describes this book very well when she says "Sherlock Holmes meets The Scarlet Pimpernel with Aliens". It's an interesting mix of Historical, Science Fiction and a kind of m/m Romantic Steampunk story that somehow works VERY well. The Characters are wonderful and the storyline is both a little amusing and very intriguing. I really didn't want to put it down once I had started reading it. I think I am a little disappointed that Kim Knox only intends this to be a trilogy. I think it could run and run if the author continues with the same style and passion as this one.

BLURB: Sev won't analyze why he wants to spank his teacher.
My Review: The blurb does nothing for the story and I wouldn't have bothered with it if it hadn't been recommended to me by a friend. As it is I found it to be an unusual story about the growing relationship between Sev and his art teacher with a decided lean towards BDSM. If you like the type of story that gets into the mind of a young man discovering his taste in being a dom for his sub teacher then read this. It's a beautifully written piece that rings true as far as emotions are concerned.

Reviewing My Warrior, My Slave by Nana G.

My Warrior, My Slave by Nana G. 4*
BLURB: Gay Master/slave Erotic Romance. Orion’s promising military career is cut short when he is caught having a sex with another free man. He is condemned to lifetime of slavery after a public trial, a fate which Meme, his ex-lover, shares with him. When he finds out he has been purchased by General Ares, he risks invoking the wrath of his former superior by pleading with him to also purchase Meme. Even though Ares is furious with Orion, he grants his request. Ares is determined to unravel Orion’s impassive facade and Meme may just be what he needs to break a warrior.
‘My Warrior, My Slave’ is a companion story of ‘Slave of Heart’. However, it can be read as a stand-alone work. The story contains explicit material with light BDSM content and is intended for adults only.
Length: Approximately 19,500 words, 78 Kindle pages (based on 250 words per page)

My Review:Complimentary Review Copy Provided by Author I liked this short. It had plenty of world building and depth to the characters. The relationship between Ares, Orion and Meme was well portrayed and intense. I will be looking to read the companion story as I really like the authors style and the heat she puts into the sex scenes as well as the Characters she has created here.

Balancing Karma by I.D. Locke

Balancing Karma by I.D. Locke 5*
BLURB: Karma has it in for Moswen. Trouble follows him around like a demented, faithful dog. Moswen never means for things to happen the way they do. It just does. And while things may seem bad at first, everything eventually works out for the best even if the road to getting there is a less than a smooth ride.
While fleeing his sister's wrath for an accident that was almost not his fault, Moswen stumbles upon the chance to crash what promises to be a fun party.
Kijika is hopeful that the birthday bash for his grandfather, the current king, won't be the deadly boring event he's sure it will be and he'd much rather be pouring over ancient texts in his quest for knowledge. Moswen's karma swings into action and Moswen and Kijika cross paths at the party setting in motion a relationship that will give both men what they most desire.

My Review: This one took me a while to get through because it is an online read but it was well worth it. The Characters are both well written and very interesting. The alien aspects of culture and form are well described and thought out. The sex scenes were hot and the romance was sweet. Slight spoiler but I feel the need to mention that I loved the male pregnancy and the misunderstandings the hormone problems bring about. If you like hot male on male, non tentacle, sex then this is for you. If you like a well thought out story about alien cultures and interaction this is also for you. In fact I cannot think of a single reason anyone would not want to read this story.

Review Of James by Sean Michael

James (Shibari Auction House #5)by Sean Michael 4*
BLURB: James paid seventy-five thousand dollars for a week of Leaf's time. But Leaf is falling for James and wants what's between them to be real, so he returns the money, much to James's disbelief, and joy.
Can what started as a transaction turn into a happily ever after for James and Leaf? Find out in this continuation of Shibari Auction House: Leaf.

My Review: Complimentary Review Copy Provided by Author Strangely enough I hadn't read any of the previous books in this series. That is a big mistake if this story is anything to go by. It reads very well on it's own but has sex scenes so hot they scorch the page and I want to read the others soonest.

It's Hotter 'Inside' This One!

Review Of Hotter on the Edge (Hotter on the Edge #1)by Erin Kellison 5*
BLURB: Three novellas of science fiction romance
On the edge of space...
On the edge of danger...
On the edge of desire...
All That Glitters by Erin Kellison
Cheated out of a fortune by the Sol royal family, lowborn Simon Miner will do anything to get his revenge, no matter how ruthless. When Princess Mica Sol, a terraforming expert, is shot out of the sky on the way to her sister’s lavish wedding, she fears the worst—scavengers—and flees into an alien jungle to avoid capture. But the man who pursues and captures her is none other than Simon, her former lover. Passions reignite as violence rocks Sol City, and Simon and Mica must fight for love, family, and their world… or lose everything.
To Buy a Wife by KC Klein
In a harsh land where corruption rules and women are few, cold realist Hudson Land must purchase a wife to save his farm. Instead of an auction, he witnesses the start of an execution. With his first look at a beautiful woman in years, Hudson knows he has to have her—no matter the cost. Lake, a chemist and a rebel fighter, is resigned to her death, but when some back-hill farmer rescues her from the chopping block she has no intention of simply becoming his wife. She’s pledged her life to the Rebellion and being bought for some stranger’s bed doesn’t change a thing, though his soft caresses have her longing for more. As lies and secrets build between them, are the quiet moments during the nights they’ve shared enough to stand against two warring factions in a world where only the strong survive?
Enslaved by Starlight by Jessa Slade
Transformed by empathic crystals into the perfect paramour, Benedetta Galil is the last treasure of her fading world. When raiders attack—seeking to corrupt the crystals and conquer all of charted space—she gives herself as a prize to the one man in the universe who values freedom over power. Mercenary sheership Captain Corso Deynah left oppression behind him on a burning planet and has no use for a sex slave, even one as seductive as Benedetta. But while he stubbornly resists her body, her fierce spirit tempts him, and he will risk everything—his ship, his seclusion, the very stars—to win not just her passion but her love.

My Review:Complimentary Review Copy Provided by Publisher Through NetGalley Three stories with three things in common, they have great world building, they have great characters and they made me want more, more hot scenes and more romance. Luckily there is a follow up, out now, called Hotter On The Edge 2 and I am so going to read it :D

Review Of Admiral Who by Luke Sky Wachter

Admiral Who? (Spineward Sectors #1)by Luke Sky Wachter 4*
BLURB: When the man handed him the keys and took off, no one expected Prince-Cadet Jason Montagne to act like a real admiral, least of all himself. Terrified of what might happen if he failed, he was determined to do anything (even impersonate a Confederate admiral) to succeed.
Bugs, battleships and blaster-fire will turn out to be the least of his worries. Ship-wide mechanical failures, assassination attempts, and every young man's greatest fear are just a few of the landmines the paranoid young college student must navigate if he hopes to avoid disaster.
But with the galaxy's oldest junior lieutenant in charge of Engineering, a conniving young Intelligence Officer as his second-in-command, and barely half the crew needed to man the ship (the untrained, undisciplined half), the biggest threats may prove to be those closest to him.
Then again, just how much trouble could he get into in a week?
Before long, the question everyone will be asking is: Admiral Who?

My Review: Amusing and action packed, a humorous space opera that packs a lot of story into 500 pages and a week of storyline. It was very reminiscent of spoofs like Galaxy Quest and Spaceballs and had me giggling to myself a few times, even though the overall story was quite serious. The Characters are all fairly well developed and my favourite was definitely the curmudgeonly Chief Engineer! The main Character of The Admiral had me thinking of Captain Kirk in the way he interacted with the female and always seemed to win out when getting in trouble, but he was also very uniquely himself. It was only after reading that I realised this was a debut novel by this author and I have to say he writes extremely well and I will be looking into getting his other stories. My only complaint is that the editing was a little shoddy and there were too many repeat and misspelled words and poor grammar (I know! I'm a one to talk about stuff like that but I don't claim to be an author!). Finally I do want to thank R J for recommending this to me on the strength of my love of Military Science Fiction, you were so right!

Review Of Midshipman Henry Gallant in Space

Midshipman Henry Gallant in Space (The Henry Gallant Saga)by H. Peter Alesso 4*
BLURB: As the last star fighter in squadron 111, Midshipman Henry Gallant is on his way from Jupiter to Mars.
With the United Planets' fleet on the verge of annihilation, he can expect no help as he passes through the asteroid belt and threatening aliens. With so much uncertainty about the aliens’ capabilities and intentions, analyzing the captured computer equipment in Gallant’s possession could prove crucial.
The fate of Earth could rest on the abilities of Midshipman Henry Gallant. Unfortunately, it is his abilities that have been much in doubt during his tour of duty.
In an era of genetic engineering, he is the only Natural (non-genetically enhanced) officer left in the fleet. His classmates and superior officers have all expressed their concern that he will not be up to the demands of the space service.
Only bright and attractive junior officer Kelsey Mitchel has shown any sympathy for Gallant. Now as his navigator on the last fighter in squadron 111, her life as well as a good many others, depends of Henry Gallant.

My Review: I only had one complaint about this book - it was too short! Mind you that's because I loved the story, it reminded me of all the Science Fiction adventure stories I loved as a youngster and I wanted to read more about Henry Gallant and his adventures. The Characters were well drawn and the adventures were well thought out, with an easy to read style that made it enjoyable. I look forward to reading more in The Henry Gallant Saga.
