Magical read

Review of Wizard's Bane by Rick Cook

I really liked the elements of this story. The use of computer programming to control magic was inspired and the characters are well rounded and interesting. I think anyone into computers and fantasy will enjoy this book (maybe not as much as I did but somewhat at least).

Some reviews from the last books I read

Review of Crusade by David Weber

Finished 17/10/12

I've been a fan of David Weber for a long time and have no idea how I missed this book. I was uncertain at first about it because of the religious aspects of the blurb but was quickly drawn in and couldn't put it down. I am now looking for the Starfire book 1 (which is for some bizarre reason chronologically after this one) because if it's as good as this one then I am in for another great read from an excellent author.

Review of Touched by Magic by Doranna Durgin

Finished 20/10/12

Ms Durgin has created a magical read in this book. She has produced a book I will remember for some time to come with her wonderful characters .
The story is all about obsession, and loyalty and mystery. It's topped by great action and the ability to make fantasy seem very real.

Review of His Dark Bond by Anne Marsh

Finished 26/10/12

Even though I hadn't read book one in this series it didn't spoil my enjoyment of this book (won this from author along with book 3)

The story world was easy to catch onto and the action was fast and intense. I really liked the main characters and the interaction between them too. I am looking forward to reading more from Ms March's Fallen series.

Review of Savage Bond by Anne Marsh

Finished 26/10/12

Even though this is a small book (only 100 pages or so) it had a very full storyline. As in her previous book, Ms March took me on a fast paced, action packed ride with a pair of Characters that leapt from the pages.

Review: Golden Boys by Amber Green

I really enjoyed reading about these two 'Golden Boys' who are both struggling with who they are expected to be while trying to satisfy who they really are. What I most liked was that the reality of their relationship wasn't a fairy tale happy ending but a down to earth solution.

Review No Earthly Shore by Jilly Paddock

I love Science Fiction and this one was on one of my favourite themes in that genre the first contact with an alien species. That said I believe this could have been so much more than what you get. It has a happy feel to it, but there was no real conflict and no depth to the tension a true first contact should bring. If you want a book that makes you feel good with an awesome description of an alien lifeform then this is for you, if however you want a narrative with depth and tension when learning to understand another's viewpoint don't read this one - you won't get any of that here!

Review: Amy Undone by Voirey Linger

This is a great story about how one's self image is not always how others see us. Amy sees herself as unfeminine and her husband Eric sees her as 'pretty lady'. This has caused friction between them so Eric decides to make one last attempt to get Amy to see what he does by taking her to the Manor. As usual the author has packed a lot of story and emotion in a short narrative and I loved the way she makes people realise that there is more to ourselves than what we can see.

Review: And She Liked It by Voirey Linger

Janie and Edward have an open marriage but, until now, Janie has never wanted to take advantage of it. Janie loves her husband but she is afraid that their relationship will change if she allows her lust for his business partner, Paul, turn into something more than a fantasy. Voirey Linger manages, as usual, to pack a lot of depth into her characters and a lot of emotion in what is essentially a short story about sex! Personally I now have Voirey as an auto buy author as she has a way of dragging me into the story no matter how short.

Review of Pretend You Love me by Voirey Linger

Alice was always the girl on top. She made sure of it. As one of the high-school mean girls, she made sure she was the one all the boys wanted. As an adult, she stepped all over anyone who came between her and what...or who...she wanted. Mess with Alice and she'd slap you down. Until one day, life slapped back. Now Alice is alone and the one thing she wants most is the one thing she's destroyed any chance of having. Tonight she only asks only one thing of her companion... "Pretend You Love Me..." When I first started reading this all I knew was that Alice had been mean to other people and now regretted it so she arranged an evening in the Manor. I expected a simple sex scene and was pleasantly surprised and moved to tears instead by the story. Have tissues on hand when you read this one as Ms Linger has found a way to pack a lot of emotion and depths of character in just a few pages.
